Chayora Holdings Ltd appoints James Wei as new CEO

Chayora, the investor, developer and operator of hyperscale data centre campuses in China, has announced that it has appointed James Wei as their new CEO

New CEO James Wei is joining Chayora after previously being the CEO of video & AI company XForwardAI, and has more than 20 years of experience working at senior and executive levels at China Telecom in both China and the US.

Chayora Holdings Ltd is headquartered in Hong Kong and develops hyperscale data centres in China. The company operates campuses in Tianjin and Taicang in China and completed construction on their first centre in Shanghai in October 2022, anticipating that it will be ready for service this year. With phased development and opportunities for scalable growth, the company hopes that benefits will include successfully being able to match customers’ immediate and future needs.

Rapid future development of International Data Centres

The company operates hyperscale data centre campuses in Tianjin and Taicang in China. Charoya completed construction of the first data centre at its new Shanghai campus in China, in October 2022. The facility is expected to be ready for service in 2023, and EdgeConneX will also offer Edge computing services from the location once it is live as part of the company's 2021 investment in Chayora.

Wei will also be joined by Wing Dar Ker, the former CEO of BlueCloud, who will lead Chayora’s government relations. Co-founders of Chayora, Oliver Jones and Jonathan Berney are stepping back from full-time executive roles and instead support the company as board advisors.
Wei has said that the development of digital China and artificial intelligence provides a strong driving force for data centre expansion. He said in an official statement, as reported by Data Centre Dynamics: “The development of digital China and artificial intelligence provides a strong driving force for IDC's next development. I'm excited to join Chayora at this moment and lead the team to provide world-class services to Chinese customers, making Chayora an important force in the [Data Centre] market.”
