Eastdil bank appoints Rob Walters as data centre chief

Global real estate investment bank Eastdil names Avison Young's Rob Walters as data centre MD

Global global real estate investment bank Eastdil has appointed a new data centre chief, the company has announced.

Rob Walters joins the company as MD, and will lead its data centre and digital infrastructure business, focusing on sales, leasing, joint ventures and financing.

Walters, who will be based in Eastdil’s Washington, DC office, has 25 years’ expertise in the digital infrastructure and data centre space. He joins from global commercial real estate company, Avison Young, where he led its data centre practice across investment sales and leasing. 

Walters said: “Eastdil Secured is known across the globe as the pre-eminent advisor and partner in commercial real estate. I am excited to work alongside the Eastdil team to further its best-in-class capabilities in the data centre and digital infrastructure sector.”

Deep data centre experience 'vital' to Eastdil

Eastdil Secured CEO Roy Hilton March said that Walters’ “extensive track record, deep network of relationships and unparalleled digital infrastructure and real estate knowledge makes him ideally suited to lead our growing data centre efforts, both in the US and internationally”.

He added: “Rob is a distinguished leader and trusted advisor with a proven track record of delivering top-level results for clients. His appointment will provide tangible value for clients around the world in the growing digital infrastructure and data centre space.”

Meanwhile, D Michael Van Konynenburg, Eastdil Secured President, observed that digital infrastructure and data centres "are increasingly important in today’s global digital economy". 

He added: “With approximately $4.5bn of global data centre-related projects in process today, adding a market leading professional like Rob to our already strong team will accelerate our ability to deliver for our clients and capitalise on a growing opportunity set.”
