Adaire Fox-Martin is announced as new Equinix President & CEO, with Charles Meyers as Executive Chair, aiming to leverage new leadership for better growth

In order to continue expanding worldwide, Equinix has announced leadership succession plans, which involve introducing a new CEO.

Current CEO Charles Meyers will move to an executive chair position, with Adaire Fox-Martin coming in as Equinix’s new President and CEO. Fox-Martin is currently the go-to-market President for Google Cloud and brings with her more than 25 years of experience within the technology sector.

Also transitioning to a new role, Peter Van Camp, who is the company’s current Executive Chairman, will step away from his formal responsibilities as a Board member to take the role of Special Advisor to the Board.

Who is Adaire Fox-Martin?

She brings a distinguished track record, most recently as the Head of Google Ireland, in addition to go-to-market President for Google Cloud. She led her Google Cloud teams globally by encompassing sales, professional services, partner ecosystem and customer success.

Prior to her work at Google, Fox-Martin held several key senior positions around the world at some of the world’s most innovative and pioneering technology and software companies. Most notably, she worked for Oracle and SAP, the latter of which saw her sitting as a member of the executive board with responsibility for Sales and Service globally, serving more than 440,000 customers.

Additionally, she has served as President for SAP Asia-Pacific and Japan and has been a member of the Equinix Board of Directors since 2020.

“In today's dynamic digital landscape, Equinix has uniquely amassed global reach, highly differentiated ecosystems, strong partner relationships, and an innovative range of product and service offerings -- collectively forming a robust and future-proofed platform to address diverse customer challenges,” Fox-Martin comments.

“Coupled with my passionate belief in the vision, mission and values of Equinix, I am excited to leverage my experience in driving business transformations and building for scale to drive continued innovation and growth at Equinix.”

Shifting priorities in a digitally transformed world

Equinix has been digitally transforming at a rapid rate in recent years, having expanded its data centres services around the world during a time of huge demand for artificial intelligence (AI).

In January 2024, the company also announced a partnership with NVIDIA to transform AI supercomputing. Equinix has recognised that AI can be utilised within data centres to facilitate growth and expansion projects, therefore enabling customers to have greater control over their data.

“Digital transformation is reshaping the basis of competition for industries across the globe, and the rapid adoption of AI is accelerating that dynamic,” says Charles Meyers. “These pivotal shifts have created an extraordinary demand environment for digital infrastructure, and our distinctive advantages create an exceptional long-term opportunity for Equinix.

“I am excited to assume the Executive Chairman role and actively support Adaire as she leverages her tremendous global experience to extend and expand our market leadership.”
