EDGNEX Data Centres by DAMAC announced a new AI-focused data centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, to support the region’s growing AI hyperscale market

The new data centre is EDGNEX Data Centres’ second in the market and marks one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI-dedicated developments.

EDGNEX Data Centres by DAMAC, backed by the DAMAC Group, will feature high-density AI racks and is projected to have a future capacity of 144 megawatts (MW). The total investment by EDGNEX will be US$2.3bn.

Key fact
  • According to Mordor Intelligence, the Indonesian data centre market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.73% to reach 2.11 thousand MW by 2030

“This is our second project in Indonesia, and this development reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia (SEA), such as Indonesia,” says Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group.

“We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced, sustainable data centres to power the next wave of innovation and digital growth."

Building the backbone of an AI-powered digital economy

DAMAC first completed the land acquisition of this site in March 2025 and has entered the early construction phases, with phase one of the data centre expected to be ready for service by December 2026.

With the facility set to deploy high-density AI racks, the company is hoping to set new benchmarks for next-generation infrastructure in the region.

EDGNEX expects this data centre to be a critical asset in Indonesia’s digital journey, a country that is digitally transforming fast. It will be a pivotal site in accelerating the country’s transition from an analogue base to a robust and AI-powered digital economy.

Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group

“The scale of AI workloads demands a new class of infrastructure,” Hussein adds. “This project is part of our broader push across SEA, where we have committed over US$3bn in digital infrastructure investments to date.”

Indonesia remains a high-potential Southeast Asian market yet faces digital infrastructure gaps, limited hyperscale readiness and rising latency challenges, the company says. With AI adoption accelerating across sectors, this project is designed to respond to the nation’s growing demand for scalable, energy-efficient infrastructure.

Targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32, the facility seeks to significantly enhance energy efficiency and align with EDGNEX’s global sustainability standards

Additionally, the second Jakarta data centre builds on the company’s growing presence in Thailand, Malaysia and other markets in Southeast Asia.
