A-FLOW’s ML1 Data Centre in Laguna Marks Progress to Launch

Filipino data centre developer and operator, A-FLOW, has celebrated a construction milestone with its ML1 data centre, where construction workers have finished the building’s structural framework.
The carrier-neutral campus is made up of three buildings and is located in Biñan, Laguna. It has been designed with energy efficiency, scalability and security to the highest degree, with an additional focus on site resiliency.
The data centre is due to begin operations in late 2024, with an initial 6MW capacity ready for service.
Data centre construction in the Philippines will move the country up in the global digital economy
FLOW is a platform which was launched in 2021 by PAG, an Asia-focused investment firm with US$50bn in assets under management. FLOW works on digital infrastructure solutions, including data centres and edge infrastructure.
ALLHC is a subsidiary of Ayala Land, a real estate developer in the Philippines, which is among the country's top real estate developers.
FLOW and ALLHC found that they had a shared goal - to develop carrier-neutral data centres across the Philippines. In 2022, they teamed up in a joint venture, which was eventually named ‘A-FLOW’.
Together, FLOW and ALLHC intend to serve enterprises and global hyperscalers in the Philippines and across the wider APAC region.
A-FLOW’s ML1 campus will include three buildings with a capacity of six megawatts, which will eventually be scaled-up to 36MW.
Key features of the facility include:
- Robust and secure infrastructure ensuring operational continuity
- Dual power feeds for enhanced redundancy
- Hyperconnected environment establishing network diversity and flexibility
- Scalability to accommodate future business growth.
Robert S. Lao, A-FLOW Chairman and ALLHC President and CEO, said that the project embodies A-FLOW’s commitment to supporting the growing demand for data storage, as the Philippines transitions to a digital economy.
“We are proud to contribute and participate in this opportunity to provide the country’s need for data centre solutions and digital infrastructure within the Philippines,” he said.
“The topping off of ML1 is a testament to the vision, commitment and dedication of all our vendors, partners and consultants who have contributed to this achievement,” said Amandine Wang, A-FLOW President and FLOW CEO. “Their presence highlights the collective effort and shared ambition that has driven this project forward up to this pivotal moment.”
“Without the support of the A-FLOW team, this milestone could not have been possible,” said Manuel S. Mendoza, Monocrete Construction Philippines President and Chairman. “Congratulations to the shared success of the Monocrete and A-FLOW team!”
STT GDC Philippines opens Makati data hall facility
The Philippines is gearing up to embrace the potential of the digital age. In Makati City, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines has opened its refurbished facility.
Data Hall F of STT Makati (previously known as Globe MK2 Data Centre), was renovated as a part of STT GDC’s ambition to widen its service offerings, to meet clients' data needs.
“Our mission is to enable our digital future not only in the Philippines but across the world. Our reputation is built on delivering what we promise, a principle that remains central to our strategy,” said Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines. “At STT GDC, we don’t just articulate our vision — we ensure that our partners and customers can count on us to execute with precision and reliability.”
Malana is dedicated to improving digital infrastructure across the country, having spent more than 20 years in the US and Mexico before returning in late 2019 to work at Globe Telecom. While this move was in part driven by a desire to be closer to his family, he was also looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the future of the country he loves.
