With Pure DC, Dune Vaults is aiming to diversify its portfolio
Pure Data Centres and Dune Vaults announce a joint venture to develop multiple hyperscale data centre campuses in Saudi Arabia to meet international demand

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently the fastest-growing data centre market in the Middle East, which is driven by increasing government digital transformation efforts. In fact, it has been estimated that the Saudi Arabia data centre market is expected to reach a value of US$2.3bn by 2029.

This, alongside increased demand for AI and cloud technologies, has intensified progress within the region - which is further boosted by its access to stable low-cost and renewable power.

“Data centres are the engines for innovation.”

Dame Dawn Childs, CEO at Pure DC

In response, Pure Data Centres (Pure DC) is partnering with Dune Vaults, a digital infrastructure platform, to develop hyperscale data centres in Saudi Arabia. The joint venture plans to develop multiple 100+ MW-capacity campuses of best-in-class facilities, making it one of the largest data centre providers in the region. As a result, Pure DC should be better poised to meet growing local and international customer demand.

Meeting data centre demand in Saudi Arabia

Pure Data Centres brings a successful track record with over 500MW of data centre capacity live or under development.

This new venture markets a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to expand in the region to meet growing demand from its global customer base. Currently, data centre customers are eager for connections that are secure and have a low latency in order to support real-time applications and services, which includes supporting AI.

Dame Dawn Childs, CEO at Pure Data Centres

Dame Dawn Childs, Chief Executive Officer of Pure DC, said: “Data centres are the engines for innovation. In Dune Vaults we have a partner that matches our ambition for solving the challenges of the future and the expertise to support our expansion in one of the fastest-growing markets for data capacity.”

The data centre company currently benefits from the expertise and investment backing of funds by Oaktree Capital Management, or Oaktree.

Scaling capacity to support advanced customer needs

Dune Vaults is able to benefit from being backed by prominent Saudi investors. Currently, it is eager to establish more than 1,000 megawatts (MW) of sustainable data centre capacity in Saudi Arabia to align with market demand estimates - all whilst supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 digital transformation strategy.

Saudi Vision 2030, or Project 2030, is a government programme launched by Saudi Arabia which aims to achieve the goal of increased diversification economically, socially and culturally,

Combining its development expertise and local relationships with Pure DC’s technical and operational know-how is aiming to provide a highly scalable solution in an exciting, fast-growing market where demand for data centres and digital infrastructure is incredibly strong.
