Digital infrastructure leader Vertiv named Paul Ryan as President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective 1 January 2026.

Ryan succeeds Karsten Winther, who retires after driving EMEA strategy, operations and profitability through complex markets since joining in 2018. Karstenr supported the transition until 31 December 2025.

Ryan steps up from Chief Procurement Officer, where he spent over eight years leading global procurement and supply chain transformation – strengthening resilience, continuity, service levels and fostering innovation.

With more than 20 years in the industry, he previously held senior roles at Emerson Network Power (now Vertiv), including Vice President of EMEA operations, Asia Pacific managing director and global operations for data centre solutions.

Giordano highlighted Ryan's internal promotion as reflecting Vertiv's high-performance culture and potential to accelerate growth.

Writing on LinkedIn, Ryan said he feels "very privileged to lead Vertiv’s EMEA organisation and incredibly excited by the limitless opportunities we share at such an important time in our industry, working closely with all our customers to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale and at speed”.

He prioritises customer closeness via local design, manufacturing and service, turning innovation into practical outcomes.

Ryan holds a Bachelor's in production management and a Master's in science (mathematics) from the University of Limerick, plus Kellogg executive training. Patrick Grainey has assumed acting Chief Procurement Officer duties.

At Oracle, Paul will spearhead the engineering and delivery of hyperscale, AI-optimised data centre infrastructure critical to Oracle Cloud's next-generation compute and AI/ML platforms. His remit encompasses accountability for speed, scale, cost and reliability across expansive, multi-site programmes.
