How is Alibaba Cloud Boosting Data Centres with Nvidia Push?

Alibaba Cloud has announced a major international data centre expansion strategy, alongside a deepened partnership with Nvidia to accelerate AI innovation in robotics and enterprise applications.
Unveiled at the companyâs Apsara Conference 2025, the plan includes new data centres in Brazil, France and the Netherlands, with further sites scheduled for Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Dubai over the next 12 months.
The rollout will strengthen Alibaba Cloudâs global infrastructure, supporting rising enterprise demand for AI-driven digital transformation.
Dr Feifei Li, President of International Business and SVP of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, says: âAI is revolutionising not only technology, but also the very foundation of how enterprises deliver business value and drive growth. Our strategic expansion of global infrastructure is designed to cater for the accelerating demand from forward-thinking customers.â
Expanding infrastructure to meet global demand
Alibaba Cloud already operates 91 availability zones across 29 regions, and the new sites will increase capacity for high-performance AI and cloud workloads. Alongside new data centres, the company is establishing regional service centres in Indonesia and Germany to provide 24/7 multi-language customer support.
âAlibaba Cloud stands at the forefront of AI innovation, co-evolving with our customers with full stack AI and cloud solutions that support businesses anytime and anywhere,â adds Feifei.
âWe are here to help partners and customers to design, launch and scale groundbreaking AI agents and applications, fuelling the next generation of digital innovation and unlocking unprecedented value in the global marketplace.â
To encourage adoption, the company has introduced the AI Catalyst Program, offering global AI firms expert guidance, access to Alibaba Cloudâs AI tools and significant credits to support development.
Nvidia partnership accelerates Physical AI
Alongside its infrastructure investment, Alibaba Cloud has integrated Nvidiaâs Physical AI software stack into its Platform for AI (PAI). This provides developers with a cloud-native environment to create and test humanoid robotics and other Physical AI systems that interact directly with the physical world.
The partnership strengthens Alibaba Cloudâs position in AI infrastructure, equipping enterprises with advanced tools and scalable data centre resources for robotics and autonomous applications.
Data centres supporting industry adoption
Alibaba Cloudâs expanded footprint is already enabling AI adoption across multiple industries. In China, AstraZeneca uses its Qwen LLM and Model Studio to enhance adverse event reporting with 95% accuracy and triple operational efficiency.
Xin Zhong, Head of Commercial IT at AstraZeneca China, says: “Working closely with Alibaba Cloud, we managed to harness the benefits of the Qwen LLM and Model Studio: Exclusive, which vastly improved the efficiency of generating adverse event reports from huge amounts of medical literature. We’re proud that we have pioneered this innovation in the industry. We expect to explore more AI-based innovations with Alibaba Cloud.”
Elsewhere, Shiseido China has deployed Alibaba Cloud’s AI-driven Cloud Threat Detection and Response platform to strengthen digital resilience.
Jerry Lin, CITO of Shiseido China & Travel Retail at Shiseido China, says: âSecurity is not just a technical requirement but a strategic imperative for our growth in China. Partnering with Alibaba Cloud gives us the confidence to scale our digital transformation securely. Its AI-driven threat detection and expert services allow us to focus on delivering exceptional beauty experiences to our customers, knowing our cloud infrastructure is protected by advanced security measures in the country.â
Driving digital transformation through data centres
Alibaba Cloudâs infrastructure is also underpinning innovation in Japan, where startups such as GladCube are applying its AI models to creative content and marketing.
Hiroki Kaneshima, President & CEO of GladCube, says: âWe have long pursued the dual goals of creative excellence and operational efficiency in content development by harnessing generative AI. Our partnership with Alibaba Cloud represents a major leap forward and we are confident it will revolutionise creative content production and reshape the future of digital marketing in Japan.â
Turbo AI is also leveraging Alibaba Cloudâs data centre infrastructure to deliver integrated AI solutions.
âBy leveraging Alibaba Cloudâs resilient, secure cloud infrastructure and intelligent resource scheduling, Turbo AI achieves dynamic configuration and elastic scaling of computing resources,â says Yuan Lu, Big Data Head of Turbo AI.
âThis empowers us to significantly enhance operational efficiency and optimise our clientsâ cost performance of AI workloads.â
With new data centres and an expanded ecosystem of partners, Alibaba Cloud is reinforcing its position as a global AI infrastructure provider, delivering the scale and resilience required to power next-generation enterprise applications.
