Schneider Electric: Sustainability to Grow Data Centre ROI

Sustainability in business can support much more than just ESG metrics and regulatory compliance.
Purpose-driven companies can double their market value four times faster than competitors according to the World Economic Forum.
Access to high-quality sustainability reporting can deliver a competitive advantage, allowing companies to anticipate risks, gain stakeholder trust and even capitalise on growth opportunities.
At Sustainability LIVE London 2025, Schneider Electric’s workshop “Future-Proofing Business: The Nexus of Sustainability, Competitive Advantage and Resiliency" will equip leaders with the knowledge they need to use sustainability for better business.

The benefits of sustainability in business
A report from the World Economic Forum and Schneider Electric, titled “Sustainability Meets Growth: A Roadmap for SMEs and Mid-Sized Manufacturers”, shows that if sustainability transitions are fast-tracked economic growth could be unlocked.
In the report’s survey, 38% of respondents already view sustainability as a business opportunity and 60% cited customer demand as the primary driver for action.
Despite facing challenges such as cost pressures and expansion, the data centre sector sees the integration of sustainable practices as an avenue for achieving operational excellence and securing a loyal clientele base.
However, more than half of SMEs cited competing priorities such as cost pressures and expansion as the main obstacle to implementing sustainability.
Others pointed to policy uncertainty and financial constraints.
“The future of manufacturing depends on empowering SMEs and mid-sized companies to lead the way towards a more sustainable and inclusive global economy,” said Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric, on the report’s release.
“Sustainability is as much an environmental imperative as an economic one for manufacturing companies.
“The leading SMEs and mid-sized manufacturers of tomorrow will be the ones who successfully leverage sustainability as a competitive advantage, building an end to end resilient and high-performance value chain on the journey.”
