Building AI infrastructure for the future

A major highlight of the partnership is the development of AI infrastructure in India.

TCS’s HyperVault unit, established in 2025, will work alongside OpenAI to create secure, large-scale infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation AI workloads.

In the first phase, TCS will develop 100MW of AI infrastructure, with plans to scale up to 1GW in the future. This infrastructure is designed to power AI applications and workloads that require significant computing power, making it a critical component for India’s AI ambitions.

This AI infrastructure, powered by green energy and featuring liquid-cooled data centres, will provide the critical foundation needed to support the demands of hyperscalers and AI-driven organisations.

It is a significant step in strengthening India’s position as a global leader in AI development and adoption, while ensuring that AI capabilities can scale to meet the growing global demand.

Social impact and AI training

Beyond business and technological advancement, the partnership will also focus on social impact.

The OpenAI Foundation and TCS will collaborate on initiatives aimed at providing AI training and resources to Indian youth.

This initiative will enable young people across India to harness the power of AI responsibly and effectively.

Together, they will develop technology toolkits for NGOs and launch programmes targeting young people, with the objective of improving the livelihoods of at least one million Indian young adults.
