Why TE Connectivity's Sustainability Wins Help Data Centres

Connector and sensor manufacturer TE Connectivity exceeds renewable energy and waste reduction goals while supporting data centre and AI supply chains

TE Connectivity has exceeded several sustainability targets under its One Connected World corporate responsibility strategy, marking five years since the initiative launched.

The global manufacturer of connectors and sensors reported progress across renewable energy use, waste reduction and water management in its latest annual report. These technologies play a central role in digital infrastructure – including data centres supporting AI, cloud computing and high-performance workloads.

TE Connectivity supplies connectivity components that enable the transmission of power, signal and data across digital infrastructure platforms.

Renewable energy progress across operations

According to the company’s latest report, TE Connectivity surpassed its 2025 target of sourcing 80% of electricity from renewable sources, reaching 87% across its operations.

A number of local energy initiatives contributed to this milestone. At the company’s site in Lamphun, Thailand, a 1.1MW solar installation now generates approximately 1.2 million kWh of electricity annually. The system, installed across rooftops and carports, supplies around 15% of the facility’s yearly energy consumption and reduces emissions by about 520 tonnes per year.

Additional operational improvements have also reduced energy use across manufacturing sites. In Kurim, Czech Republic, TE optimised its moulding operations, cutting more than 150,000kWh of energy use annually. The initiative contributed to the company doubling its energy savings compared with the previous year.

At its facility in Tangier, Morocco, a redesigned HVAC system captures condensate and repurposes it as a new water source for factory operations.

Waste, water and safety improvements

The company also reported progress against environmental and safety targets introduced under the One Connected World strategy.

Since launching the programme, TE Connectivity has reduced the amount of hazardous waste disposed by 66%, significantly exceeding its original goal of 15%. The company also reduced water withdrawal at targeted water-stressed locations by 22%, surpassing a 15% target.

Operational safety has improved as well. TE reported a Total Reportable Incident Rate of 0.06, outperforming its internal target of 0.12.

Supporting digital infrastructure supply chains

The company’s technologies are widely used in energy networks, automated factories and digital infrastructure platforms, including data centres supporting AI and cloud services.

Connectivity and sensor components play a critical role in these environments, enabling reliable power distribution, high-speed data transfer and monitoring across increasingly complex digital systems.

TE Connectivity also reported progress toward longer-term environmental targets. Since 2022, the company has reduced Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 17% as it works toward a 30% reduction target by 2032.

Waste management improvements have continued as well. Over the past year, the company doubled the number of zero waste to landfill sites to 56 and diverted 93% of its waste away from landfills and incineration, moving closer to its target of 98%.

With more than 90,000 employees operating in around 130 countries, TE Connectivity continues to expand its sustainability programmes while supplying the connectivity infrastructure that underpins next-generation digital platforms, including the data centres supporting artificial intelligence and high-density computing environments.
