Hyperscale provider Vantage Data Centers has appointed Ed Harnaga to lead global marketing and communications amid growing cloud and AI demand

Hyperscale provider Vantage Data Centers (Vantage) has appointed Ed Harnaga as its new global Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

The company is bringing Harnaga on board to manage its global marketing and communications organisation. His remit spans brand strategy, corporate reputation, public relations, executive communications and regional marketing operations across EMEA, North America and Asia Pacific. He will report to Executive Vice President Jeff Tench.

Scaling hyperscale infrastructure

The appointment arrives as the data centre sector navigates accelerating global demand for AI and cloud computing infrastructure.

Ed is expected to collaborate with the sales, public policy, sustainability, product and executive leadership teams at Vantage to support customer growth and advance its market position.

“Ed brings the strategic perspective, leadership experience and communications expertise needed to help shape Vantage’s next phase of growth,” says Jeff Tench, Executive Vice President at Vantage Data Centers.

“He has a proven track record of building world-class brands, advising executive teams and strengthening corporate reputation at global organisations.

“His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to scale our platform and deepen our role as a trusted infrastructure partner for the world’s leading AI and cloud companies.”

Three decades of strategic communications

Ed transitions to the data centre industry from the pharmaceutical sector. He most recently operated as Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at Pfizer, where he led the global communications organisation. His responsibilities there encompassed corporate reputation, media relations, digital and social media, branding and stakeholder engagement.

During his time at Pfizer, he directed the corporate rebranding process – the first for the company in more than 75 years. He also managed global communications during the COVID 19 pandemic response, helping reposition Pfizer as a science-driven organisation.

Prior to his tenure at Pfizer, Ed held senior leadership positions at FTI Consulting and Ruder Finn. Throughout his career, he has advised Fortune 500 businesses on public affairs, brand strategy, executive communications and corporate reputation.

“Vantage is helping power the next era of AI and cloud innovation, and I’m thrilled to join the company at such an important moment,” says Ed.

“Vantage has earned a strong reputation for operational excellence, customer partnerships and responsible growth.

“I look forward to working with the team to strengthen our global brand and tell the stories of the customers, people and innovations driving the company forward, as well as the positive impact Vantage is making in the communities where it operates.”
