Vertiv Boosts Data Centre Cooling with PurgeRite Acquisition

Vertiv Holdings confirms the completion of its US$1bn acquisition of Purge Rite Intermediate LLC, strengthening its liquid cooling and fluid management capabilities across data centre environments.
The move reinforces Vertivās position in thermal management, particularly for high-density computing and AI workloads that depend on efficient and reliable heat transfer.
Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv says: "We are excited to officially welcome PurgeRite to Vertiv, expanding to deepen our fluid management services capabilities.
"PurgeRite's specialised expertise in fluid management services complements our existing portfolio and enhances our ability to provide end-to-end product and service support for customers' high-density computing and AI applications where efficient thermal management is critical to performance and reliability."
Supporting high-performance and AI data centres
Liquid cooling becomes more important as data centre density increases, especially with the growing presence of HPC's and AI infrastructure.
These systems generate greater heat loads, making thermal stability essential for continued performance and equipment protection.
PurgeRite focuses on the early-stage and ongoing treatment of coolant systems, using mechanical flushing, purging and filtration techniques.
These services establish ultra-clean, air-free and chemically stable fluid loops. This process begins at system commissioning and continues throughout the life of the cooling infrastructure. Maintaining this level of fluid integrity is key to consistent performance and reduced maintenance disruption.
By combining PurgeRiteās fluid services with Vertivās existing cooling technologies, the company targets greater performance and reliability across thermal systems, particularly in facilities that manage large-scale computing clusters and AI workloads.
Enhancing service scale and operational quality
The integration of PurgeRite into Vertivās global service network is expected to improve thermal system performance and reduce operational risks linked to fluid contamination or inefficiencies. The combined offering enhances system uptime by supporting better heat transfer and more efficient cooling distribution.
Customers also gain access to a larger service footprint, with Vertiv planning to deliver consistent service quality across regions. The combination strengthens Vertivās thermal chain offering, enabling service delivery from core facility components such as chillers through to CDUs and on to row and rack-level cooling applications.
With these end-to-end capabilities, Vertiv looks to deliver liquid cooling systems that meet the performance needs of HPC and AI environments, while offering the scale and consistency required by global data centre operators.
Serving hyperscale and colocation operators
PurgeRite is based in Houston, Texas and holds established relationships with hyperscale cloud providers and Tier 1 colocation operators.
Its track record in mission-critical data centre environments includes managing coolant quality and maintaining performance across complex schedules and infrastructure setups.
The company brings to Vertiv a set of proprietary technologies and a scalable delivery model, suited to high-demand projects and rapid deployment timelines.
This supports Vertivās ability to meet strict thermal requirements without delays, particularly in environments where system downtime or performance drops are unacceptable.
The acquisition allows Vertiv to consolidate these service offerings, delivering fully integrated liquid cooling and thermal support services. With HPC and AI continuing to push data centre requirements, Vertiv now holds a broader position to support high-density environments with consistent thermal control and fluid integrity.
PurgeRiteās service offering now joins Vertivās thermal portfolio, providing operators with a single point of support from infrastructure-level cooling to rack-based deployments.
The combined organisation aims to meet evolving data centre needs with fluid management services that ensure cooling performance throughout the system lifecycle.
