VIRTUS Data Centres Adds to Slough Campus with LONDON19

VIRTUS Data Centres is pressing ahead with another expansion in Slough.
The company has announced plans for LONDON19, a new 32.5MW data centre on the Slough Trading Estate that will increase capacity at one of the UK's most important digital infrastructure hubs while adding another AI facility for enterprise and cloud customers.
The development will become the latest addition to VIRTUS' UK estate, which now exceeds 300MW of operational and committed capacity.
Building more AI-ready capacity
Located on the Slough Trading Estate, LONDON19 is designed to meet growing demand for scalable colocation capacity as AI workloads reshape infrastructure requirements.
The facility will incorporate advanced cooling systems alongside sustainable construction materials and has also been designed with provision for the future export of waste heat to benefit the local community.
The building is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and will include a roof-level plant deck.
Adam Eaton, CEO at VIRTUS Data Centres, says: "We are delighted to expand our Slough campus with the addition of LONDON19, further strengthening our ability to support customers seeking scalable, resilient and sustainable data centre capacity in London's western corridor.
"This development builds on our long-standing relationship with SEGRO and enables us to deliver critical power and IT capacity aligned with customer demand.
"By embedding sustainability considerations from the outset, including provision for future waste heat utilisation, LONDON19 reflects our focus on delivering flexible, future-ready infrastructure that supports the UK's digital economy while minimising environmental impact."
Planning advantage in a constrained market
One of the project's distinguishing features is that planning permission has already been secured through the Slough Trading Estate's Simplified Planning Zone (SPZ), helping streamline development in a market where delays can significantly affect deployment schedules.
SEGRO will construct the powered shell before VIRTUS completes the technical fit-out, with construction expected to begin shortly after final design approval.
The long-standing partnership between the two companies has become a key part of ongoing expansion within the Trading Estate, which has served as a focal point for UK data centre development for more than two decades.
Andrew Pilsworth, Managing Director of Data Centres and Strategic Partnerships at SEGRO, says: "VIRTUS is one of Europe's leading data centre operators and we are pleased to be extending our long-standing relationship through the delivery of this new facility at the Slough Trading Estate.
"The Trading Estate has been at the centre of the UK's data centre market for more than 20 years, and the scale of infrastructure, power availability and planning certainty we have established there, alongside a strong focus on sustainability and positive engagement with the local community, continues to support customers like VIRTUS as they expand in a highly constrained environment."
Expanding one of the UK's largest estates
When completed, LONDON19 will further strengthen VIRTUS' presence in a market that remains central to UK digital infrastructure.
Beyond adding another 32.5MW of IT load, the project proves how established campuses can evolve their business operations sustainably through incremental expansion instead of developing facilities in fresh locations.
With planning already secured and sustainable features incorporated into the design from the outset, VIRTUS is positioning the latest addition to its Slough campus to support rising customer demand while building on one of Europe's most established data centre ecosystems.
