Who are the Sustainability Leaders at Data Centre LIVE?

Sustainability is a vital aspect to consider when designing and building data centres – but especially when operating them.
As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, so too does scrutiny on its environmental impact. Operators of data centres are under pressure to prove that growth can align with climate goals.
The challenge is complex, as data centres must scale to support AI and edge computing while reducing their carbon footprint and improving efficiency. This calls for a fundamental rethink of how infrastructure integrates with energy systems and local environments.
At Data Centre LIVE: The London Summit, the Sustainable Data Centres panel will explore how organisations are embedding sustainability into both strategy and operations.
The session will examine the practical steps needed to reduce environmental impact while sustaining business growth.
At the heart of the discussion are three leaders shaping the direction of sustainable digital infrastructure.
What is Helen Munro’s approach to sustainable data centres?
Helen Munro, Head of Environment and Sustainability at Pulsant and sponsor of the session, brings a distinctive blend of analytical rigour and philosophical thinking to the sustainability agenda.
With 15 years of experience across power-intensive industries in the UK and Australia, Helen approaches sustainability not only by measuring carbon, but by questioning the systems and assumptions behind it.
At Pulsant, she is leading the company’s sustainability strategy at a time when data centres are navigating rapid change across energy, climate, geopolitics and technology.
Her role spans governance and long-term planning, ensuring sustainability is embedded across the business rather than treated as a standalone function.
She also plays an active role in shaping industry direction through her involvement with techUK, advocating for greater transparency and collaboration across the digital value chain.
On the panel, Helen is expected to bring a critical perspective on how organisations can move beyond metrics to create meaningful, systemic change in how sustainability is defined and delivered.
How Stine Bjønnstu Holthe turns strategy into action
As Head of Sustainability at Bulk Infrastructure, Stine Bjønnstu Holthe represents a new generation of leaders proving that environmental responsibility and commercial success can coincide.
With a background in construction management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, she combines technical understanding with strong stakeholder engagement experience.
Her early career at Multiconsult helped shape her ability to navigate complex projects and drive sustainable outcomes across diverse teams.
At Bulk, Holthe leads sustainability initiatives across large-scale infrastructure projects, focusing on embedding environmental considerations into both development and operations.
She will bring insight into how organisations can translate sustainability ambitions into practical actions, ensuring that growth in digital infrastructure supports long-term environmental goals.
Louise Alter: Connecting data centres to the energy transition
Louise Alter, Sustainability Director at nLighten, brings a systems-level view of sustainability, shaped by her experience across Europe and the Middle East and her focus on decarbonisation in the UK.
Her work centres on integrating data centres into wider energy ecosystems. At nLighten, she oversees energy supply, grid connections and infrastructure planning across a multi-site portfolio, ensuring facilities are not only efficient but actively contribute to energy system resilience.
Louise has led initiatives ranging from heat recovery and export to grid stabilisation and flexible energy services, positioning data centres as active participants in the energy transition.
Her previous role driving energy innovation projects further underpins her ability to translate emerging technologies into real-world impact.
At the panel, she is set to explore how data centres can move beyond being large energy consumers to becoming enablers of smarter, more sustainable energy systems.
