Why Vertiv is Expanding its UPS Portfolio for EMEA

Vertiv has launched its PowerUPS 100 Standby Series across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In doing so, the company adds a compact uninterruptible power supply (UPS) platform designed to protect the growing number of digital assets operating outside centralised infrastructure.
Part of Vertiv's broader power protection portfolio, the new series targets distributed IT environments where even brief power interruptions can disrupt operations, affect productivity or risk data loss.
While aimed at desktop systems and small office applications, the launch reflects a wider industry trend as enterprises seek to extend data centre-grade resilience to decentralised technology estates.
The introduction follows a period of expansion for Vertiv's edge and power infrastructure business.
Earlier this year, the company launched its PowerUPS 200 family across EMEA, targeting edge computing deployments, remote offices and smaller IT environments.
More recently, Vertiv strengthened its thermal management capabilities through the acquisition of Italian heat-exchange specialist ThermoKey, expanding its cooling portfolio and manufacturing footprint as demand grows for high-density and AI-ready infrastructure.
Supporting Distributed IT
The PowerUPS 100 Standby Series is available in 230V configurations and includes both lithium-ion and valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) models.
Capacity options range from 350 VA to 900 VA, allowing organisations to match power protection requirements to different environments and workloads.
The systems provide battery backup and surge protection through up to eight outlets, enabling multiple devices to remain protected during outages.
Integrated USB-A and USB-C charging ports also support connected mobile devices, while a compact design allows installation in space-constrained environments.
“In today’s increasingly distributed IT architectures, efficient and reliable power protection is critical,” said Giuseppe Leto, Senior Director, IT Systems Business at Vertiv in EMEA.
“The latest Vertiv PowerUPS 100 Standby Series completes the refresh of our desktop single-phase UPS portfolio, underscoring our focus on continuously evolving our offerings to help customers address technology advancements and changing usage requirements."
Extending Resilience Beyond the Facility
As organisations place more computing resources closer to users and applications, ensuring continuity across dispersed infrastructure has become a growing operational priority.
To support that need, the PowerUPS 100 Series includes user-replaceable batteries intended to extend system lifespan while reducing maintenance costs.
The units are also compatible with Vertiv Power Assist software, which enables automated shutdown of connected equipment during prolonged outages, helping minimise the risk of data loss and hardware damage.
The range comprises four VRLA models between 500 VA and 900 VA alongside a 350 VA lithium-ion model.
Warranty coverage extends to three years for VRLA systems and five years for lithium-ion variants.
While compact in scale, the launch shows how vendors are adapting infrastructure technologies traditionally associated with data centres for use across a much broader digital ecosystem.
For Vertiv, it also completes the refresh of its desktop single-phase UPS portfolio as the company continues to expand its presence across power, cooling and edge infrastructure markets.
