Ahead of the event in March, Data Centre Magazine sat down with Yashnath Issur, CEO at Nxtra by Airtel Africa.

Yashnath is a data centre professional with 16 years of experience in managing, building, operating, divesting and investing in Data Centers globally.

Yashnath has been a trendsetter, building the first data centre in many emerging markets and developing the resources expertise from the ground up.

Currently, Yashnath is the CEO of the Data Center Division at Nxtra by Airtel Africa. Before this, he was the leader for Data Center Procurement, Portfolio and Risks at AWS.

During the event, Yashnath will take part in the ‘Global Hyperscale Strategies’ panel.

What inspired you to get involved in Data Centre LIVE?

Digital data centre forums are the way to reach the data centre community globally. Data Centre LIVE is a great event to keep Nxtra in mind.

Provide an overview of what your panel will focus on.

In this panel, I aim to discuss the democratisation of the cloud and its challenges, an Africa story. With the youngest population and one billion people, Africa cannot be left behind. How we will address the challenges and bring change to Africa.

What do you hope to achieve through the event?

I hope to educate on the need to ensure cloud and Infrastructure presence in Africa.

What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the data centre industry over the next decade?

Localised data based on sovereignty, AI and ML will shape the data centre landscape – in my opinion – but the challenges are severe on power availability, so I will say clarity is still missing.
