Lenovo accelerate AI with new hybrid cloud platforms

AI continues to represent a new era of disruption for the data centre industry
Lenovo has launched new hybrid cloud solutions, in partnership with companies like Intel, to boost AI performance and build cloud agility for customers

Lenovo has announced plans to boost its AI performance with hybrid cloud solutions, designed so that customers can better leverage digital technologies.

It is offering new ThinkAgile hyperconverged solutions via ThinkSystem servers that are powered by the latest Intel processors. With these optimised services, users will be able to get more guidance with professional services for AI.

The company has continually boosted its AI and high-performance computing (HPC) systems throughout 2023, which included a new global innovation centre in Budapest, Hungary in October. Its goal is to keep enhancing customer experience and boost innovation.

Boosting AI performance

AI continues to represent a new era of disruption for the data centre industry. A recent survey found that more than three in five (61%) IT decision-makers anticipate a rise in their organisation’s investment to address future technological challenges between now and 2030.

Most notably, it has been found that integrating AI and data analytics will be one of the largest infrastructure challenges that businesses will face over the next decade.

Lenovo’s ThinkAgile hybrid cloud solutions are engineered to boost AI performance and build cloud agility by delivering more compute and faster memory. In addition, Lenovo Professional Services for AI and TruScale as-a-service offerings are designed to help customers simplify IT and accelerate AI. This is done via a new integrated hybrid cloud for edge capabilities that help businesses grow, whilst only paying for what they need.

From the company’s own research, it deduced that AI is used for predictive maintenance and can reduce downtime by up to 45%. Similarly, in retail, AI is expected to increase profitably by up to 59% through checkout automation and loss prevention. In finance sectors, AI is used for credit risk optimisation and reduces loss and default rates by up to 20%.

Building AI Solutions worldwide, Lenovo boasts more than 150 AI solutions and 50 AI innovators across every vertical market. It holds expertise and services to help customers envision, build and manage AI solutions. With the likes of AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Qualcomm and VMware, the company is working to design the next generation of AI infrastructure to power large cloud environments.

Building cloud agility

Optimised for AI, Lenovo ThinkAgile HX, MX and VX are engineered, turnkey hybrid cloud solutions with the new fifth Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, in addition to an open ecosystem of partners, including Nutanix, Microsoft, and VMware. The new ThinkAgile integrated hybrid cloud solutions offer industry-leading cloud software enabling new capabilities, faster backup and recovery and reducing deployment time up to 75%.

Lenovo’s AI for hybrid cloud consists of built-in accelerators for AI inference and fine-tuning on models up to 20 billion parameters. With up to 77% higher storage capacity and newly enabled capabilities, Lenovo’s integrated hybrid cloud solutions, which are powered by Intel, will aim to accelerate AI applications.

The accelerators also claim to be more energy-efficient and high-density to increase sustainability, with 40% less energy consumption.

“This launch marks a step towards strengthening our commitment to AI for All. Our new Hybrid Cloud Platforms propel innovation and offer to create a faster, more flexible path to AI,” says Sumir Bhatia, President – AP, Lenovo ISG.

“With up to 15 percent better performance, customers can leverage these solutions to reduce their IT footprint, achieve greater ROI, and deliver accurate business outcomes. These solutions are offered in a consumption model and seamlessly integrate with existing IT infrastructure for a dynamic hybrid AI approach.”
