Salesforce Commits to UK Upscaling with New Data Centre

As AI continues to gain momentum in the global business landscape, Salesforce has committed itself to developing new solutions to boost digital transformation.
The company has revealed it is opening its first AI Centre in London, suggesting that it is confident in the AI market within the United Kingdom (UK). Likewise, Salesforce has announced that Data Cloud, the company’s unified data platform, will be available on Hyperforce, the trusted platform architecture built on the public cloud within the UK, from the end of July 2024.
Salesforce states that its new AI centre will act as a collaborative hub for industry experts, partners and customers. Its first data centre is part of last year’s US$4bn investment into the UK by the company, which will also be used to encourage industry collaboration and facilitate AI training and upskilling programmes.
Investing in the UK as a ‘European hub’
As part of its million-dollar investment strategy within the UK, Salesforce is expected to contribute roughly 500,000 jobs to the nation’s economy over the next four years. It will therefore be a necessary priority for the company to equip this potential new workforce with the relevant tools and experience to thrive and succeed in AI roles.
“The opening of Salesforce's first European data centre underscores our commitment to customers and partners in the UK,” highlights Andrew Lawson, SVP for UK&I at Salesforce. “The new data centre will support the unprecedented growth we've seen in the region and further accelerates the adoption of cloud, social and mobile technologies, empowering U.K. companies to connect with their customers in a whole new way.”
As a result of Europe’s dramatic data centre boom at the end of 2023, large corporations around the world have sought to invest in countries across the continent. With this in mind, Salesforce is touting the UK as its focus on AI aligns with the broader trend of Europe’s technology ecosystem preparing for continued innovation.
With this in mind, Salesforce’s Hyperforce platform is designed to empower Salesforce’s global customer base to grow and succeed in new regions by leveraging the scale and agility of the public cloud to quickly and easily deploy Salesforce products. Customers can stand to benefit from the company’s integration of enhanced standards for compliance, security, agility and scalability, in addition to Salesforce’s continued commitment to privacy.
Hyperforce to support greater digital innovation
With Hyperforce, Data Cloud enables businesses to scale resources cost-effectively, ensure data is protected with advanced security measures and manage complex data sets with ease.
By being able to unify all their data on Salesforce, businesses will be able to power greater automation, analytics and personalised customer engagement for businesses, in addition to upscaling their current AI offerings. Likewise, organisations across the UK will be able to harness Data Cloud in a way that enables them to keep up with local regulations and compliance standards - whilst handling increased public cloud workloads.
The UK is committed to establishing itself as a European AI hub in recent months, with its government taking greater steps to prioritise responsible innovation. In April 2024, the country signed an agreement with the United States (US) to partner in greater AI safety measures.
A move like this from Salesforce aims to help businesses act on data with the power of more intelligent AI, boosting efficiency and reducing costs.
“The UK is home to so many incredible businesses, and we are helping to accelerate their digital transformation to enhance the customer experience, drive higher growth and make productivity gains,” says Zahra Bahrololoumi, EVP and CEO, UKI at Salesforce. “Offering Data Cloud on Hyperforce in the UK means we can help our customers unlock opportunities to better connect with customers locally while growing globally.”
