DataOne and Nebius have announced plans to build a 300MW data centre for AI workloads
Global AI infrastructure providers expand capacity with sustainable facilities across US and Europe as demand for dedicated compute resources grows

DataOne and Nebius have launched a collaboration to construct a 300MW data centre in Vineland, New Jersey, designed specifically for AI workloads.

The first phase of the facility will be delivered in 20 weeks, and will incorporate behind-the-meter electricity solutions to reduce dependence on the regional grid, along with heat recovery systems and energy-efficient cooling practices.

The partnership marks a significant expansion for both companies. For Nebius, the facility enhances its US market presence with a 10-year tenant commitment. For DataOne, it represents the company’s largest US project following its recent European developments.

DataOne expands from European operations to United States market with accelerated build schedule

DataOne entered the market in late 2024 with what it terms a “giga-scale AI hosting data centre” in Europe, followed by a facility for Core42 in Grenoble, France. The New Jersey project continues the company's focus on facilities engineered for high-density computing, with rack capacities ranging from 60kW to 500kW.

Charles-Antoine Beyney, CEO of DataOne

Charles-Antoine Beyney, CEO of DataOne, says: “This collaboration marks a turning point in data centre engineering. Decades of delivering Mission Critical Services for BSO’s customers have prepared DataOne for the complex infrastructure demands of AI at scale. This facility is as state-of-the-art as data centres come, offering energy efficiency and a strategic location to support Nebius' rapid global expansion. Our ambition doesn't stop with what we're announcing today; we aim to build this campus out with multiple clients and tenants to become a gigawatt-scale data centre campus.”

The New Jersey site was selected for strategic proximity to major population centres while addressing power availability challenges that have constrained data centre development in parts of the northeastern United States. The behind-the-meter approach represents an industry response to grid capacity limitations that have affected data centre deployments across North America.

Nebius continues multi-region deployment strategy with New Jersey commitment

For Nebius, the New Jersey facility joins existing deployments in Finland, Paris, Kansas City and Iceland. The company – which is headquartered in Amsterdam – focuses on infrastructure for AI workloads with proprietary cloud software architecture and hardware designed in-house.

The company maintains R&D hubs across Europe, North America and Israel, with approximately 400 engineers. As a preferred cloud service provider in the NVIDIA Partner Network, Nebius offers infrastructure optimised for AI training and inference workloads.

Andrey Korolenko, Chief Product & Infrastructure Officer and co-founder of Nebius, says: “By combining Nebius’ expertise in AI-native cloud computing with DataOne’s deep knowledge of data centre infrastructure, we are accelerating deployment timelines without compromising on performance or sustainability. This facility will be a major step in expanding our footprint in the US market, reinforcing Nebius’ position as a leader in next-generation AI cloud infrastructure.”

The collaboration reflects the growing market segmentation within the data centre industry, with AI-focused facilities adopting different design criteria than traditional enterprise or hyperscale data centres. The high power densities required for GPU clusters necessitate different approaches to power delivery, thermal management and facility design.

Charles-Antoine says: “This facility is as state-of-the-art as data centres come, offering unprecedented energy efficiency and a strategic location to support Nebius' rapid global expansion.”

Nebius expands global footprint with Iceland data centre deployment

In addition to the New Jersey project, Nebius has announced a 10MW compute cluster deployment in Iceland. The colocation facility, developed in partnership with Verne, a datacentre provider specialising in the Nordic region, is expected to be operational by the end of March.

The Iceland facility, located in Keflavik, will utilise the country’s renewable energy resources, running entirely on hydroelectric and geothermal power. Physical deployment and software installation are underway for the site.
