European cloud provider OVHcloud joins Digital Realty’s ServiceFabric platform, offering enterprises private cloud connectivity across its data centres

As enterprises seek alternatives to public cloud infrastructure, data centre operators are expanding their private connectivity options. The latest development in this shift comes from Digital Realty, which has added European cloud provider OVHcloud to its network of partners.

Digital Realty, a data centre operator with more than 300 facilities worldwide, has integrated OVHcloud into its ServiceFabric platform, expanding private cloud connectivity options for enterprise customers. The move responds to growing demand for secure, private connections to cloud services – a market driven by data sovereignty requirements and cybersecurity concerns.

The partnership links OVHcloud, which operates 450,000 servers across 43 data centres, with Digital Realty's ServiceFabric – a platform that enables organisations to connect their IT infrastructure between data centres without using public internet connections.

Private cloud expansion

The integration allows enterprises to access OVHcloud’s bare metal servers – physical computers dedicated to single users – and cloud services through private network connections. These connections bypass public internet infrastructure, reducing security vulnerabilities in data transmission.

“We’re thrilled to integrate OVHcloud's cloud solution into our ServiceFabric platform,” says Chris Sharp, Chief Technology Officer at Digital Realty. “This partnership strengthens our platform's capacity to meet the growing demand for hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, ensuring that our customers can access critical cloud and bare metal offerings with the performance, resilience, and flexibility they require.”

The service operates through Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL infrastructure, which spans more than 150 data centres. Enterprises can use these facilities to host data in locations that align with regional compliance requirements and data sovereignty regulations – laws that govern how data must be stored and processed within specific territories.

KEY FACTS: Digital Realty and OVHcloud partnership
  • Digital Realty: 300+ data centres across 50+ metros in 25+ countries
  • OVHcloud: 450,000 servers in 43 data centres across 4 continents
  • Combined customer reach: 1.6 million customers in 140+ countries

This expansion arrives as European organisations seek alternatives to global cloud providers. The partnership positions both companies to serve enterprises requiring European-based infrastructure for data storage and processing, with direct connections to cloud services becoming essential for digital transformation initiatives.

Technical integration

ServiceFabric’s architecture supports high-speed data transfer for AI applications and analytics workloads. The platform connects with Digital Realty’s Private AI Exchange, a service for organisations developing machine learning applications.

Enterprises using the service can implement hybrid cloud strategies – approaches that combine private and public cloud resources – while maintaining control over data security and compliance. The platform enables organisations to manage workloads across multiple environments through a single interface.

The integration provides organisations with tools for disaster recovery and big data processing. These capabilities support enterprises developing data-intensive applications or maintaining critical systems that require rapid data access and processing.

Yaniv Fdida, Chief Product and Technology Officer at OVHcloud, says: "By integrating with Digital Realty's ServiceFabric, OVHcloud enables businesses to confidently adopt cloud solutions across private, hybrid and public environments."

The partnership targets organisations in finance, healthcare and government sectors that require private network connections for data security. Enterprise customers can begin transferring data immediately or start a trial of the service.

Infrastructure control

OVHcloud maintains direct control of its infrastructure from server design to data centre construction. The company serves 1.6 million customers across 140 countries through its network of facilities on four continents.

The integration enables Digital Realty’s customers to connect to OVHcloud services from any of Digital Realty's global data centres, creating a network that spans six continents. This reach supports both international corporations and regional enterprises requiring specific data location requirements.

For sectors advancing AI applications within Europe, the partnership provides infrastructure designed for processing large datasets. The platform’s architecture delivers performance optimised for retrieving and processing substantial volumes of data.

The collaboration strengthens Europe's position in cloud infrastructure services. It provides organisations with cloud connectivity options that meet European data protection standards while delivering the technical capabilities required for modern enterprise applications.

As Yaniv explains: “Our combined strengths support secure, efficient digital transformation, with performance and reliability at the core of our offerings.”
