Unpacking Data4’s Rapid Data Centre Growth Strategy

The European data centre leader has announced a significant recruitment campaign to support its strong growth.
After announcing a €15 billion (US$17.25bn) investment into France by 2030, Data4 is now reaffirming its desire to make the country a key hub for the development of AI. In order to achieve this, the operator has opened several new permanent positions to be filled as soon as possible.
This news comes as data centre operators are facing unprecedented levels of demand, given the rise of AI and cloud workloads. In fact, according to EUDCA, a total of €100 billion (US$115bn) is expected to be invested in the sector by 2030.
“The data centre sector is undergoing a major transformation, which requires strengthening our teams to scale up. Among the open positions at Data4, three rapidly growing departments stand out for the diversity of their profiles and areas of expertise: operations, construction and finance,” says Marion Enjolras, Chief Human Resources Officer at Data4 Group.
“Above all, we are looking for committed talents, aware of the responsibility we have toward our clients and capable of showing great adaptability: this is part of who we are.”
Boosting its workforce to support industry growth
In 2024, thanks to the strong growth within the sector, Data4 successfully increased its workforce by 30% – a figure that is expected to more than double and reach a 66% increase in total workforce in 2025.
Although two thirds of the positions are to be filled in France, opportunities are also available in other countries where the group operates, including Italy, Spain, Poland, Germany and Greece.
As data centres become more of a digital backbone in our lives, Data4 is advocating for greater awareness of the critical importance of its infrastructures and professionals.
The company says its workforce are committed to storing and protecting essential industries such as banking and healthcare. Through its recruitment campaign, which targets talents not only from the digital sector but also from other industries, the company wants to remind everyone that its people are dedicated every day to ensuring the continuity of service.
“As a European leader, attracting new talents is an absolute necessity. Increasing our workforce by 66% by the end of the year is certainly ambitious, but essential,” says Olivier Micheli, President of Data4 Group.
“At Data4, we are proud to support our new talents in a dynamic environment, with continuous training opportunities and strong diversity within our teams.”
Supporting European data centre growth
Data4 is responsible for financing, designing, building and operating its own data centres to provide its customers with high-performance and sustainable data hosting solutions.
Its data centres are delivered via a campus model, with the company currently operating 22 data centres across Europe. As a European leader in the design, construction and management of data centres, Data4 seeks to continue expanding its presence across the continent.
In January 2025, the company announced the appointment of Alexander Oyaert as CIO to drive its growth strategy forward. He now oversees all of the company’s M&As and financing activities.
A move like this was significant for Data4’s industry development, particularly as data centre investments continued to be discussed at length across Europe currently. The company continues to help these customers better understand their data challenges and pride themselves on being agile to deliver its solutions in a more sustainable, future-proof way.
