AtlasEdge Opens 20 MW Data Centre Powered by 100% Renewables

AtlasEdge has expanded its presence in Germany with the launch of a new data centre in Stuttgart, marking the completion of phase one of its STR001 site.
The facility delivers 10,000m² of technical space and up to 20 megawatts (MW) of power, targeting enterprise and colocation demand in one of Europe’s key digital growth regions.
Located in Böblingen within the wider Stuttgart metropolitan area, STR001 is engineered to meet surging demand for low-latency capacity, connectivity and compliance in southern Germany.
The site is the company’s eighth facility in the country and reflects its strategic focus on scaling infrastructure across the DACH region.
Built for high efficiency and full compliance
The facility was constructed using modular techniques designed to optimise energy and material efficiency.
It is fully compliant with the German Energy Efficiency Act (Energieeffizienzgesetz), which sets binding efficiency standards for large energy-consuming facilities such as data centres.
AtlasEdge confirms that STR001 operates on 100% renewable energy and incorporates design standards aimed at minimising resource consumption throughout its operational lifecycle. The site is certified to EN 50600 and ISO 27001 standards, based on Germany’s IT-Grundschutz framework for information security.
Tesh Durvasula, CEO at AtlasEdge, says the opening reinforces the company’s commitment to the German market.
“We’re proud to deliver a best-in-class facility that meets the growing demand for capacity in Stuttgart,” he says. “Germany, and the DACH region more broadly, is a cornerstone of our growth strategy, and this opening is another important step as we continue to invest in the next wave of European data centre markets.”
Positioned for growth in a high-demand region
STR001 adds substantial capacity to a region already known for its high concentration of industrial and manufacturing activity. Stuttgart is home to a large base of global enterprises and automotive manufacturers, as well as a growing number of technology and research institutions.
Georg Raiser, Managing Director for DACH at AtlasEdge, highlights the site's regional value. “This new facility directly supports businesses in and around one of Germany’s most dynamic and innovative cities,” he says. “Sustainability has been a core consideration throughout, fully aligned with our commitment to creating a truly sustainable digital society.”
AtlasEdge has been steadily increasing its footprint across the DACH region, which includes Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
With robust national strategies supporting digital infrastructure and energy transition, the region is viewed as central to Europe’s long-term data economy.
Technical specifications and certifications
STR001 is designed to deliver high-density workloads at scale while maintaining strict energy and operational standards.
- Total power provision of up to 20 MW
- 10,000m² of state-of-the-art data centre space
- 100% renewable energy-powered
- High energy efficiency
- Built using sustainable modular construction
- Certifications: EN 50600 and ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz
- Fully compliant with the German Energy Efficiency Act
The modular approach also provides flexibility for phased buildouts and tailored client deployments, enabling fast delivery of space in line with customer requirements.
As AI and enterprise applications drive higher rack power densities and greater bandwidth needs, data centres like STR001 are playing an increasingly vital role in regional and national digital strategies.
By combining power availability with sustainability and compliance, AtlasEdge positions STR001 to serve both hyperscale and enterprise-level demand with a lower operational footprint.
The Stuttgart opening comes as AtlasEdge continues to expand its network of edge and core data centre facilities across Europe, aiming to support the next generation of digital services, low-latency applications and distributed workloads.
