How Vertiv Rack PDU Portfolio Helps Data Centres Scale

Vertiv has expanded its PowerIT rack power distribution unit (PDU) portfolio to address rising power demands in highâdensity data centres.
The new Vertiv PowerIT rack PDU models, now available with power ratings up to 57.6kW, target AI and high-performance computing (HPC) deployments where rack densities are accelerating.
Basic, monitored and switched variants are available immediately across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
As AI training clusters and HPC nodes drive consolidation and higher rack utilisation, operators need scalable, reliable power distribution at the rack level.
Vertiv is positioning the latest PowerIT units as a way to balance loads, capture precise power data and simplify configuration, so facilities teams can keep pace with fastâgrowing IT footprints without compromising uptime.
Highâdensity power for AI and HPC
With many modern racks pushing beyond 25kW, threeâphase distribution at the rack has become a practical necessity.
Vertiv PowerIT rack PDU supports both 208V Delta for North America and 240/415V WYE for EMEA and other international markets.
By distributing the load across phases, this approach helps reduce the risk of circuit overloads, stabilises voltage and supports consistent performance in dense, powerâhungry deployments.
âThe growing adoption of AI and HPC applications is driving unprecedented power demands in data centres," says Andrea Ferro, VP power & IT systems for Vertiv in EMEA.
âVertiv PowerIT rack PDU demonstrates our commitment to meeting these evolving needs with an end-to-end portfolio.
âBy providing solutions specifically engineered for high-density computing, we're enabling our EMEA and global customers to efficiently scale their power infrastructure while maintaining the reliability and flexibility needed for next-generation data centres.â
Monitoring, control and security
For capacity planning and efficiency reporting, the monitored and switched PowerIT models provide precise realâtime power usage data.
Built for rugged environments, the units operate reliably at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F) and relative humidity up to 95%, supporting consistent performance even in hot aisle and other demanding scenarios.
Switched versions add remote outletâlevel control for faster change management at the edge of the rack.
Operators can sequence outlets for safer powerâup, isolate nonâcritical loads and make rapid deployment adjustments without a site visit, improving responsiveness while protecting critical IT equipment.
Security has been elevated on the monitored models with Secure Boot, anchored by a hardware root of trust proprietary to Vertiv.
This protects the integrity of the network card firmware by preventing unauthorised modifications, aligning rack power infrastructure with modern cyber hygiene practices.
Configuration and service options
Facilities teams can tailor the Vertiv PowerIT rack PDU to specific applications via configureâtoâorder and engineeredâtoâorder options.
Choices span outlet configurations, input types and chassis colours, allowing alignment with regional electrical standards, cable plant preferences and rack identification schemes.
To underpin lifecycle reliability, the PowerIT rack PDU is available with the Vertiv Distribution Assurance Package.
The programme includes sevenâyear comprehensive coverage, 24/7 emergency response, onâsite and remote support and professional startup services.
For operators scaling AI and HPC estates where maintenance windows are tight and uptime expectations are high, bundled support can simplify procurement and deârisk deployment at scale.
Availability and tools
The expanded Vertiv PowerIT rack PDU range is available now in North America and EMEA through Vertiv and its channel partners.
To identify the right model for a given rack density and regional power standard, operators can use the Vertiv rPDU Finder.
