Kao Data Appoints Clinton Hasell as Chief Business Officer

Kao Data has confirmed the appointment of Clinton Hasell as its new Chief Business Officer. The move strengthens the company’s senior leadership as it prepares to expand its data centre platform across the UK and Europe to support the rise in AI and cloud infrastructure demand.
Clinton steps into the role with over 30 years’ experience across the data centre, telecoms and digital infrastructure sectors. His appointment follows a period of consultancy work with Kao Data and now formalises his position within the company’s executive leadership.
He will report directly to the board and work closely with the C-suite to lead business operations and long-term expansion.
“I am excited to move into my new role as Chief Business Officer, and to work together with both our C-Suite and our talented organisational teams to help drive the company’s growth objectives from inception to delivery,” says Clinton.
“Kao Data has established a market-leading position as a data centre developer and operator at the bleeding edge of AI deployment and it’s fitting we use the power of AI and advanced computing to deliver true business transformation.”
Driving performance across data operations
In his new position, Clinton will oversee a broad portfolio of business-critical functions, including core operations, enterprise-level reporting and strategic infrastructure development.
A central focus will be on process optimisation, data-informed decision-making and scaling operations to match growing customer demand.
His remit includes the alignment of Kao Data’s technical deployments with operational resilience and strategic growth planning. That encompasses evaluating new opportunities for site development, ensuring business functions meet enterprise reporting standards and advancing the firm’s investment strategy in line with market trends.
According to the company, Clinton’s role will support Kao Data’s goal to scale with precision, agility and sustained value as it expands its platform to serve the growing number of AI, cloud and enterprise workloads in Europe.
“On behalf of the company and our Board, I am delighted to welcome Clinton Hasell to the Senior Management Team as our new Chief Business Officer, and at a time of transformation and evolution for the company,” says David Bloom, Founder and Executive Chairman, Kao Data.
“Clinton has been a key part of our team for some time within a consultancy capacity, and it’s a fantastic endorsement of our future plans and ambitions that we have permanently secured his contribution as we develop new sites to scale our data centre platform across the UK and Europe.”
Track record across major digital infrastructure firms
Before joining Kao Data, Clinton served as Executive Group Director, Europe at Global Switch, where he led business growth across its European data centre portfolio. His tenure focused on profitability and large-scale delivery across the group’s hyperscale infrastructure operations.
Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at Interxion during its US$1bn initial public offering in 2011 and remained with the business through to its US$8bn acquisition by Digital Realty in 2020. The deal was one of the most high-profile acquisitions in the data centre sector, and Clinton played a strategic role during the transition.
With Clinton now formally serving in his new role, Kao Data continues to strengthen its leadership bench as it positions itself to support AI-driven growth across its infrastructure platform.
His appointment marks another step in the company’s evolution as it builds out new data centre capacity to meet escalating demand from cloud, high-performance computing and enterprise clients.
