STACK Expands Leadership to Scale Data Centre Operations

STACK Infrastructure (STACK) has announced three executive appointments across its Americas business, aligning leadership with the demands of expanding data centre development and operations. The company, which develops and operates data centres for global technology clients, focuses on scaling delivery while maintaining consistency across its portfolio.
The changes place operational delivery, engineering and external engagement at the centre of its structure, to meet the increasingly complex nature of hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects. As demand for digital infrastructure grows, operators are managing larger builds, longer supply chains and closer relationships with regulators and communities.
Mike Casey moves into the role of Chief Operating Officer, STACK Americas, after serving as Chief Technology Officer. In this position, he will oversee engineering, supply chain, EHS, construction and operations. These functions shape how data centres are designed, built and run across their lifecycle.
Kevin Hughes takes on the newly created role of Chief External Affairs Officer, STACK Americas, leading public affairs, government relations and community engagement.
Addam Friedl has been appointed Chief Technology Officer, STACK Americas, where he will lead engineering and innovation alongside supply chain, influencing STACKās Basis of Design and strategic approach to making investments in long lead equipment and data centre infrastructure.
Aligning operations with data centre demand
STACK positions these appointments as part of a broader effort to deliver data centres at scale while maintaining performance and consistency.
āI am pleased to welcome Mike, Addam, and Kevin to these important leadership positions,ā says Matt VanderZanden, CEO of STACK Americas. āAs demand for digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, STACKās ability to deliver at scale while maintaining a strong, relationship-driven approach has never been more important.
āEach of these leaders brings deep experience and a clear commitment to our clients, our partners, and the communities where we operate.
āTogether, they strengthen our leadership team and enable STACK to continue delivering for our clients while advancing our responsible growth and deepening the partnerships that define how we build and operate.ā
Mike Casey outlines how operations remain tied to consistent delivery across projects.
āIām excited to step into this role and build on the strong foundation weāve established at STACK,ā says Mike Casey, Chief Operating Officer at STACK Americas. āOur focus remains on designing and delivering reliable, high-quality digital infrastructure for our clients while continuing to improve how we execute across the full lifecycle of our projects.ā
Mikeās experience spans data centre engineering, construction and operations. His role connects these disciplines to ensure that facilities meet performance requirements while being delivered on schedule and within defined cost parameters.
Engineering and supply chain focus
Addam Friedlās appointment places engineering strategy and supply chain planning at the centre of infrastructure development. Data centre builds rely on long lead equipment such as power systems and cooling units, which require early procurement and coordination.
āSTACK is operating in one of the most dynamic periods in the history of digital infrastructure,ā says Addam Friedl, Chief Technology Officer, STACK Americas. āIām excited to join the team and help advance how we design and deliver infrastructure by bringing together engineering innovation and supply chain strategy to support our clientsā evolving needs.ā
Adamās remit includes shaping the Basis of Design ā a framework that defines how a data centre is engineered, including power, cooling and redundancy. This ensures that facilities meet client requirements while supporting scalability and efficiency.
His background in engineering leadership and infrastructure design supports STACKās approach to maintaining performance across multiple sites, particularly as deployments increase in size and complexity.
Community engagement and policy
As data centre projects expand, engagement with local communities and regulators becomes a core part of development. Kevin Hughes leads this area, focusing on how projects align with local priorities and regulatory frameworks.
āOur industry has a responsibility to be a thoughtful partner in the communities where we operate,ā says Kevin Hughes, Chief External Affairs Officer, STACK Americas. āSTACK has built a strong reputation for responsible development and collaboration with local stakeholders.
āI look forward to continuing that work by strengthening relationships with community leaders, economic development partners, and policymakers while helping communicate the important role data centers play in supporting jobs, innovation, and the digital services people depend on every day.ā
Kevin brings experience across infrastructure policy and data centre development, including previous work with Meta on regulatory strategy and network infrastructure initiatives. His role connects project delivery with external stakeholders, ensuring that development aligns with policy requirements and community expectations.
Together, the leadership changes position STACK to manage the operational, technical and external demands of building and operating data centres across its Americas portfolio.
