How Vertiv's BMarko Deal Targets AI Data Centre Buildout

Vertiv has acquired US-based structural fabrication specialist BMarko Structures, as it looks to strengthen its ability to deliver large-scale AI data centre infrastructure.
The move comes as AI deployments place increasing pressure on the infrastructure layer, particularly around speed and scalability. By bringing BMarko’s capabilities in-house, Vertiv is aiming to expand its engineering and manufacturing capacity while tightening control over delivery.
The acquisition integrates a key structural fabrication specialism into Vertiv’s Infrastructure Solutions business in North America.
This is expected to enhance the company’s ability to deliver prefabricated and modular infrastructure, while improving execution and supply chain responsiveness.
Building capacity for AI data centres
As AI workloads continue to grow, data centre professionals are placing greater emphasis on rapid deployment and flexible design. Structural fabrication for prefabricated and converged infrastructure has become a critical component in meeting these demands.
BMarko brings experience in delivering custom-engineered builds, including steel and wood frame structures suited to AI factories and data centres.
The company has worked with Vertiv on long-term projects, demonstrating its ability to support complex and highly tailored infrastructure requirements.
Bringing these capabilities into Vertiv’s operations is expected to improve material control and streamline processes, helping to reduce deployment timelines while maintaining quality and consistency.
“AI is reshaping infrastructure requirements, with customers placing greater demands on time-to-capacity, flexibility, and efficiency across the infrastructure layer,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv.
“This acquisition strengthens Vertiv’s ability to help customers move faster, with better systems-level performance and control, as infrastructure demands continue to grow in complexity.”
As AI-driven deployments scale, Vertiv is support customers navigating increasingly complex infrastructure needs, and the acquisition of BMarko will develop their expertise.
Expanding engineering and manufacturing footprint
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Williamston, South Carolina, BMarko has developed a strong reputation for high-quality structural fabrication.
Its capabilities are supported by a recently expanded engineering and fabrication facility spanning approximately 560,000 square feet.
The facility’s proximity to Vertiv’s Infrastructure Solutions manufacturing operations is expected to support closer coordination between design, fabrication and deployment. This alignment is likely to improve speed of delivery while enabling greater customisation for customers building AI-ready data centre environments.
The acquisition reflects a broader shift towards vertical integration within the data centre supply chain, as providers look to secure critical capabilities and reduce reliance on external partners.
By incorporating structural fabrication directly into its operations, Vertiv is positioning itself to respond more quickly to customer requirements and evolving infrastructure demands.
The addition of BMarko’s expertise strengthens Vertiv’s ability to deliver modular and prefabricated data centre solutions as operators look to scale capacity in line with accelerating AI adoption.
