Wei Shen’s appointment brings new leadership to Vertiv's China operations as data centre infrastructure demand grows across the APAC region

Vertiv has appointed Wei Shen as President of Greater China, a key leadership move as the company strengthens its position in the region’s fast-growing data centre infrastructure market.

The appointment reflects Vertiv’s focus on scaling operations in one of the most strategically important regions for global digital infrastructure.

Wei brings nearly a decade of experience from Gates Corporation, where he served as Vice President and General Manager for Greater China.

Prior to that, he held several senior roles at Eaton Electrical, including responsibility for distributed power quality across APAC and wider sales operations.

Leadership aligned with Vertiv's data centre priorities

Wei joins at a time of increased demand for scalable power and cooling solutions across the Asia-Pacific region, driven by the growth of hyperscale, colocation and edge data centre deployments.

Vertiv, which supplies power, thermal and IT infrastructure solutions across this sector, is looking to build on its regional footprint and deliver higher performance for customers from the cloud to the edge of the network.

Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv

Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv, says Wei’s experience will be vital as the company continues to expand.

"Throughout his career, Wei Shen has demonstrated exceptional ability to drive business transformation through comprehensive growth strategies, enhanced manufacturing efficiencies and developing high-performing teams,” Gio says.

“Wei's leadership emphasises excellence in execution, customer-first focus, and strong collaboration and I'm pleased to welcome him to our executive leadership team as he relocates to the greater Shenzhen area."

Wei holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Automatic Control Engineering from Beihang University.

A transition of leadership for China operations

Wei replaces Edward Cui, who has served as President of Greater China since 2022.

Edward’s tenure is noted for establishing operational stability and positioning Vertiv’s China business for growth as the region’s data infrastructure requirements expanded.

Greater China remains a central part of Vertiv’s business, with major deployments of digital infrastructure supporting the region’s ecommerce, manufacturing and cloud sectors.

The company’s offerings in uninterruptible power supply (UPS), cooling systems and modular data centre design have made it a partner for colocation providers and enterprises seeking performance and resilience at scale.

Vertiv’s strategy in China, and the wider APAC region, increasingly focuses on helping customers optimise energy use and manage AI workloads with next-generation infrastructure.

With AI training and inference workloads placing greater stress on thermal management systems, the company’s experience in delivering efficient cooling technologies is central to its appeal across high-performance computing sites.

Supporting growth from core to edge

Vertiv’s wider product and service portfolio spans core data centre builds to edge deployments supporting smart cities, telecoms and industrial applications.

With Wei now leading the Greater China business, the company is expected to align closer with local manufacturing and regulatory requirements, delivering infrastructure that meets the region’s demands for scale, speed and energy efficiency.

The appointment also supports Vertiv’s aim of reinforcing leadership continuity and regional insight at the top of its organisation.

With global data centre capacity set to expand rapidly through 2030, China remains one of the most competitive and technically demanding markets.

Vertiv’s approach to the China market has long relied on balancing global standards with localised delivery.

The installation of experienced regional leadership is intended to keep the company responsive to both global customers expanding in Asia and regional operators requiring trusted, high-quality infrastructure.

Wei Shen will now lead that effort, overseeing all operational and strategic planning for Greater China, while also contributing to Vertiv’s wider global growth strategy.
