Join Alpesh Saraiya and Dr. Gavin Tuller from Honeywell for a deep dive into sustainable data centre strategy
Experts from Honeywell will dive into setting the agenda for a new era of sustainable and efficient data centres worldwide

In the age of exponential digital demand, data centre operators are grappling with one of the industry’s most pressing challenges: how to drive efficiency, resilience and sustainability – at scale.

Honeywell, a Fortune 500 leader in automation and energy solutions, is set to reveal how next-generation thinking and proven technologies can help data centre operators reframe the problem, unlock new efficiencies and achieve sustainability targets in a special upcoming webinar.

Design for More Efficient Data Centers will take place from 3:00pm – 4:00pm (BST) on Wednesday, 17 September.

Discovering the Honeywell approach

Hosted by Alpesh Saraiya, Senior Director, Data Center Marketing at Honeywell and joined by his colleague Dr. Gavin Towler, Chief Scientist for Sustainable Technologies, the session will dive deep into Honeywell’s century-long DNA of innovation – and why it matters more than ever to the global data centre community.

From pioneering controls and automation to building resilience and meeting rising regulatory demands, Honeywell’s influence spans industries, with game-changing advances in aerospace, oil and gas, and, increasingly, the digital infrastructure powering our connected society.

As Alpesh notes, “Honeywell is home to solving the world’s toughest problems in a variety of industries,” and today’s data centres are central to that mission.

Tackling energy, carbon and operations – holistically

The webinar will walk operators through real-world strategies for optimising energy management and reducing carbon footprints – even as global build velocity and regulatory scrutiny hit historic highs.

Highlighting Honeywell’s deployment for top-tier hyperscale and colocation operators across six continents, the session promises unique lessons in delivering core priorities like uptime, worker safety, operational efficiency and lifecycle sustainability.

A few of the headline solutions up for discussion:

  • Thermal innovations: From low global warming potential Solstice refrigerants to advanced liquid cooling technology, Honeywell is setting new benchmarks for how future-ready data centres can manage ever-rising chip densities and heat loads.
  • Thermal energy storage: Learn how peak-shaving solutions and burst cooling can mitigate expensive, inefficient power draw during high-demand AI workloads.
  • Battery energy storage and microgrids: See how combining renewables with smart battery systems not only stabilises power supply but enhances emissions reduction, all underpinned by Honeywell’s proven management software and control apparatus.
  • Scope 3 emissions and lifecycle design: Honeywell’s experts will offer actionable guidance for curbing the hardest-to-reach embedded emissions, with a circular mindset on asset and infrastructure lifecycle.

Reframing the challenge: beyond PUE

One of the session’s central calls to action is to challenge the status quo in data centre design and management.

Instead of chasing ever-lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) alone, Honeywell advocates a life-cycle, whole-system approach – one where energy reuse, heat recovery and integration with community heating schemes or even direct air capture can potentially turn a data centre from climate challenge to climate solution.

Gavin’s insights will detail how, with the right design and technology integration, operators can even achieve carbon-negative performance through synergy with renewable-powered heat pumps and advanced carbon capture.
