A new data centre facility from DCP in Munich has been designed specifically to target AI workloads and power greater technology innovation across Bavaria

Data Center Partners (DCP) has undergone its latest data centre development in Munich, Germany.

Located in Unterschleißheim, less than 20km from the centre of Munich, the future-ready data centre’s purpose is to bring additional compute power to large enterprises that work within the region. It will be furnished to support AI, high-performance computing, cloud and IT companies.

Germany continues to emerge as a leading European data centre hub and is the second-largest market for colocation capacity in the continent. The data centre market in Germany alone is expected to grow by 6.22% between 2025 and 2029 to reach US$25.29bn by 2029.

Munich is already home to leading data centre companies like NTT, EdgeConneX, EXA Infrastructure and Equinix.

The future of AI-ready data centres

With strong industries like automotive, finance, insurance, media, TV, IT or aerospace being headquartered in Bayern, there are growing compute power needs across the region for AI, storage, cloud, research and development and machine learning.

Likewise, Unterschleißheim is a well-connected area that offers access to national and international telco operators, in addition to being close to an already-existing data centre hub.

This is why DCP has decided to launch this ambitious data centre project with an estimated 30MVA of power. The site can be used as a primary location and is ideal strategically for a back-up site.

Main Features
  • Expected 30MVA power connection
  • 10.000m2 gross area
  • Estimated PUE 1.2
  • Planned 17W IT-load
  • Targeting Tier 3 and EN50600 Certifications
  • RFS Phase 1 planned Mid-2027

DCP has also stated the new data centre facility will offer 67,810 square feet of white space across three floors and target a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2. The company states that the facility has also been designed in accordance with Tier III standards.

The first phase of the project is expected to provide eight megawatts (8MW) of capacity by mid-2027. DCP has yet to announce any further progress.

It will also be carrier neutral and have access to major Tier I and Tier II carriers, partnering with the likes of Gasline, EU-Networks, DE-CIX and more.

Jörgen Venot Principal, Leasing at DCP

“With industries such as IT, automotive, aerospace, media, gaming, TV, telecom, finance or insurance, and tech giants having their German headquarters in Munich, Bavaria is in need of additional compute power for all AI, machine learning, cloud, HPC, backup or storage applications,” commented Jörgen Venot Principal, Leasing at DCP, as reported by Datacenter Dynamics.

A stronghold in Munich

First founded in 2021, DCP has 200MW of capacity operational or under development. The company is currently focused on the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), with projects underway in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Heidelberg in Germany, in addition to Graz in Austria.

Due to its local network, the DCP team can develop a strategic piece of land into a key data centre asset, as well as building and environmental permits. Its primary focus is on colocation and hyperscale data centres, covering the key stages of the data centre lifecycle from first development to operation.

"Over the years, we have expanded beyond our initial consulting approach. Thanks to our talented team, the company has evolved into a versatile player in the industry,” says Gian-Marco Krömer, Chief Commercial Officer at DCP

“We are committed to simplifying our customers' journey towards sustainable data centres by providing everything they need from a single, reliable source.”
