The TECfusions and Baeza Group collaboration is designed to set a new benchmark for sustainable, high-density digital infrastructure across Latin America

TECfusions, a leading US-based operator of sustainable high-density data centres, has signed a Binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Baeza Group, a leading construction and quarry company in Chile.

This is for the exclusive right to develop a flagship data centre campus in Puente Alto, Chile, marking a significant expansion of TECfusions’ global portfolio and highlights the company’s commitment to meeting the surging demand for digital infrastructure across Latin America (LATAM).

The agreement, executed on 7 May 2025, establishes the framework for a future joint venture, pending successful due diligence.

“Expanding into Chile marks a significant milestone in our global growth strategy and underscores TECfusions’ commitment to enabling digital transformation wherever innovation is needed most,” said Simon Tusha, Founder and CTO of TECfusions.

“Our vision is to deliver sustainable, high-density infrastructure that not only meets the evolving demands of AI and high-performance computing, but also sets a benchmark for environmental responsibility.

Supporting growth in the LATAM data centre market

The new Puente Alto facility will launch with 10MW of immediately available capacity, with an additional 10MW accessible from the local grid.

Expansion plans are already in place to scale the 40-acre site up to 100MW, therefore positioning it as the largest data centre campus planned for the Santiago region. A high-density AI deployment on this scale is designed to support digital transformation across LATAM, whilst also adhering to strict environmental standards, including a zero-water-use approach – critical in a country facing increasing water scarcity.

Historically, LATAM has been an underserved market within the data centre industry. However, the market is now on an upward trajectory as demand continues to grow, with more big technology companies eager to strategically invest in countries across the region, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Columbia.

Now, the LATAM data centre market is expected to double by 2030, fuelled by cloud adoption, digital transformation and strong government incentives.

Chile in particular boasts more than US$4bn in planned investments, world-class infrastructure and ambitious renewable-energy targets.

As global tech giants increasingly turn their attention to the region, TECfusions is uniquely positioned to deliver scalable, environmentally responsible capacity at speed and scale.

Simon adds: “By entering new markets like Latin America, we’re building the foundation for a new market to plan for the digital future with sustainability goals securely in place from time of inception.”

Baeza Group: The advantage of local knowledge

The Baeza Group’s decision to partner with TECfusions followed significant interest from global hyperscalers. It has collaborated with this proven operator to ensure shared growth opportunities, whilst leveraging TECfusions’ expertise in rapid, sustainable data centre development.

Combined with Baeza’s deep local knowledge, both companies have created a business model that benefits both parties and the broader community.

Key fact:
  • The Baeza Group is a third-generation, family-owned Chilean company with deep roots in construction, quarry operations and industrial development

“This site will be a cornerstone of our Latin American expansion strategy,” says Oscar Gonzalez, Director of LATAM Markets for TECfusions. “Together with the Baeza Group, we’re not only building a next-generation data centre, but also paving the way for long-term community and economic development in the region.”

This campus ultimately works to advance TECfusions’ mission towards global growth, industry leadership and impactful sustainability of its data centre operations.

The companies are eager to enable AI-ready deployments with no water consumption and by leveraging natural gas for the most efficient operations. They also state that they wish to set a new standard in the industry for responsible digital infrastructure across LATAM.

“Partnering with TECfusions allows us to retain a stake in our family’s land while unlocking its full potential for Chile’s digital future,” said Eduardo Baeza, CEO of the Baeza Group. “Their technical expertise and commitment to sustainability made them the ideal joint-venture partner as we enter this new era.”
