Siemens, Cadolto & Legrand Launch New Modular Data Centre

A new ‘all in one’ modular data centre has been unveiled by Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Cadolto DataCenter GmbH and Legrand Data Center Solutions.
This will be a next-generation edge data centre – a turnkey solution engineered specifically for speed, scalability and sustainability. The innovative system is debuting at Data Center World Frankfurt, taking place on 4-5 June 2025.
Siemens is acting as an exclusive technology partner for the project and is providing and integrating energy and building automation systems with flexible financing. The data centre will also be optimised for evolving IT demands, from standard processing to high-performance AI applications.
“With digital transformation accelerating across every industry, our customers need infrastructure that moves as fast as they do,” says Ciaran Flanagan, Global Head of Data Center Solutions & Services at Siemens AG.
Creating customisation opportunities
Demand for reliable high-performance computing (HPC) accelerates, largely on account of AI, edge processing and data-intensive applications. Therefore, businesses are experiencing a need for agile, efficient and rapidly deployable infrastructure that extends beyond capacity and can be scaled.
The companies share that their new modular solution aims to deliver these needs. It is a fully integrated plug-and-play data centre that can easily be configured, installed, expanded and relocated.
Unlike containerised data centres, the modular design is able to offer prefabricated modules that can be tailored to the unique needs of the operator. They can also be deployed within a fraction of the time, with planning cycles roughly six to 12 months.
Modular data centres can also support high-density workloads, including AI computing.
Ciaran adds: “This solution offers all the performance of a traditional data centre, but with the agility to scale quickly, tailored to our customers’ specific needs. When ramping up capacity, it’s just a case of plugging it in.”
Each unit of the modular edge data centre is factory-built and delivered as ready-to-operate, which aims to minimise on-site disruption and enable live upgrades without downtime.
It also operates with approximately 30% fewer CO₂ emissions during construction, a 90% recycling rate and fully reusable components – hoping to offer a ‘future-forward approach’ to sustainable digital infrastructure.
Creating the future of sustainable infrastructure
As the project’s exclusive technology partner, Siemens is integrating its full suite of Smart Infrastructure technologies. This includes medium and low-voltage power distribution, building automation, fire safety and physical security systems.
Smart Infrastructure is designed to transform infrastructure at speed and scale to enable collaborative ecosystems, whilst accelerating the customer’s digital journey.
- Seamless system interaction
- Minimised interface complexity
- Accelerated deployment
- Connection to a 24/7 emergency and service control centre
- Optional maintenance contracts
The goal is to help businesses scale up their infrastructure without upfront capital investments.
Cadolto Datacenter is acting as a manufacturer and general contractor of the modular edge data centre to deliver the prefabricated modular building with integrated climate control.
Additionally, Legrand Data Center Solutions brings its expertise in IT white space infrastructure – from racks and structured cabling to intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
- Legrand’s PDU solutions are intelligent enough to be reliable and secure for critical IT equipment. Its PDUs are designed to offer reliability, innovation, modularity and efficiency, which is especially important given the need to create data centres that are powerful, reliable and efficient.
The fully equipped, energy-efficient data centres are suitable for both permanent operation and interim use, the companies say. They can also be deployed wherever needed and across a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals and automotives.
Likewise, the “IT-ready” rental models are designed to enable fast deployment without upfront investment, which the companies say make them ideal for temporary IT hubs, lab environments, or other short-term infrastructure needs.
