Empyrion Digital has started construction of its first Thailand data centre, in the face of increased AI and digital infrastructure demand in Southeast Asia.

The Singapore-headquartered developer and operator is building the 20MW Bangkok Data Centre, known as TH1, in Bang Na, an area emerging as a major connectivity hub in the Thai capital.

The site spans more than 17,000 square metres and is scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2027.

Empyrion's project marks the company's entry into the Thailand market and places it among a growing number of operators targeting Bangkok as demand rises for regional cloud infrastructure.

Mark Fong, CEO of Empyrion Digital, said: “The groundbreaking of TH1 represents an important milestone in Empyrion Digital's continued expansion across Asia.

“Thailand is a strategic market and an increasingly vital hub for hyperscale, enterprise cloud and AI-driven workloads in Southeast Asia.

“Our investment underscores our commitment to delivering future-ready, AI-enabled digital infrastructure in locations where our customers are scaling and innovating.”

AI infrastructure shapes facility design

TH1 is designed to support AI applications and next-generation cloud computing, with Empyrion Digital planning advanced cooling systems including liquid-cooling technology.

The company says liquid-cooling will enhance the facility's Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)

Liquid-cooling is increasingly being used rather than traditional air-cooling methods in AI-focused data centres, where high-density computing infrastructure generates larger thermal loads.

The facility also targets improved water usage effectiveness (WUE). By doing so, Empyrion Digital says the site follows its green-by-design approach, which incorporates sustainability and operational efficiency measures across its regional portfolio.

TH1 launches at a time when operators across Asia are adapting infrastructure designs to accommodate AI-driven computing demand.

Higher rack densities and increased power requirements are prompting developers to rethink cooling systems and operational resilience strategies.

The facility has secured power allocation ahead of launch.

Alongside power capacity, TH1 includes access to major fibre providers in Bangkok, positioning the site to support cloud providers and enterprises requiring scalable infrastructure and high-performance network connectivity.

Connectivity partnership expands network reach

Alongside the groundbreaking announcement, Empyrion Digital signed a memorandum of understanding with TCC Technology, known as TCCtech, to strengthen connectivity services at the site.

Under the agreement, TCCtech is extending its fibreoptic network into TH1 while also providing managed connectivity services for customers operating from the facility.

The partnership gives TH1 access to one of Thailand’s largest peering ecosystems. TCCtech’s ecosystem includes more than 50 networks and direct access to eight major internet exchanges, or IXPs.

The companies say the arrangement improves routing diversity and regional reach for enterprises operating across Thailand and the wider ASEAN market.

Mr. Veerapat Reungdej, Assistant Managing Director of TCC Technology (TCCtech), said: “TCCtech has long been committed to building a strong, open and future ready connectivity ecosystem for Thailand.

“Our collaboration with Empyrion Digital reinforces this mission by extending our fibre footprint and interconnection capabilities to TH1.

“Together, we aim to deliver a high-performance environment that empowers businesses with the speed, reliability, and scalability needed to thrive in the digital economy.”

Bangkok demand continues to grow

Thailand continues attracting infrastructure investment as cloud adoption and digital transformation projects expand across Southeast Asia.

Bangkok’s role as a connectivity hub has strengthened as hyperscale cloud providers and enterprises seek infrastructure capable of supporting low-latency services throughout the region.

Empyrion Digital says the TH1 facility is purpose-built for customers requiring scalable infrastructure for cloud and AI services, in addition to enterprise workloads.

“Our partnership with TCCtech is a powerful example of how collaboration can unlock greater value for our customers,” says Mark Fong.

“By extending connectivity from TCCtech's established ecosystem into TH1, we are strengthening network performance, resilience and reach, enabling customers to operate with greater confidence as they grow across the region.”
