Colt DCS continues site growth with a sustainable focus
With a commitment to hyperscale sites, Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) continues to expand its services whilst seeking to provide the best infrastructure solutions for businesses.
Boasting 25 years of industry experience, the company places environmental awareness at the heart of its operations. It is doing this by aiming to reduce environmental impact globally and make sustainability a key strategic driver.
Colt DCS has designed, built, managed and innovated data centres for more than 15 years, with 24 data centres spanning across Europe and Asia. Despite achieving massive growth in recent years, the company prides itself on remaining agile in its operations.
Innovation in line with sustainable operations
Colt has always aimed to put its customers first and counts 76% of the top global telecoms companies and 72% of the top global media businesses among its customers.
The company works to deliver globally-scalable data centres in a highly dynamic IT environment. Offering flexible and affordable colocation and IT infrastructure solutions, Colt DCS’ aim is to allow its customers more flexibility to plan their business growth effectively.
In line with their new innovations, Colt DCS offers an on demand data centre interconnect service that is designed to make it faster and easier to connect the data centres that host a company’s IT services. Regardless of location, the company is able to provide pre-provision capacity so that data centre services and connectivity can function in real-time. It is also able to help businesses expand their network coverage and as a result, they can keep pace with evolving IT strategies.
With a commitment to achieving more sustainable operations, Colt DCS now has an ESG strategy to reduce its global environmental impact to build towards a sustainable hyperscale data centre future. Part of these plans are to become a net zero carbon company by 2045, as well as procuring 100% renewable energy in all European data centre sites.
Sustainability is indeed becoming an increasingly important concern for leading figures in the data centre industry, with data centre businesses seeking to be quick off the mark to announce strategies.
Continued global expansions into new markets
In September 2023, it was announced that Colt DCS was expanding into the Indian market, with a new facility in Navi Mumbai. At the time, the company stated that the launch of the new hyperscale data centre would seek to contribute to the region’s digital transformation.
Navi Mumbai - a planned city adjacent to Mumbai on India’s west coast - accounts for half of the country’s data centre capacity, as previously reported by Data Centre Magazine.
Additionally, Colt DCS has expanded its presence in Germany with a third hyperscale data centre in Frankfurt. The site is located near the existing Colt DCS Frankfurt data centre and is designed to allow seamless connectivity to the Rhine-Main region, providing convenient access to Frankfurt's financial district.
Once completed, the data centre aims to offer 32.4MW of IT power capacity, sourced totally from renewable energy.
With no signs of slowing down its growth, it looks as though Colt DCS will continue to expand and cater to the mass demand that the sector is experiencing.
