Top 10 largest data centre operators in LATAM

Data Centre Magazine takes a deep dive into some of largest data centre operators across Latin America, including Scala, Ascenty and Layer 9

In what historically has been an underserved market, demand for  data centre capacity is growing in Latin America. This is supported by the number of people that are using data in its five largest regions — Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Columbia — growing at a phenomenal pace.

For this week’s Top 10, Data Centre Magazine explores some of the leading data centre operators across Latin America.

10. Data Horizon Americas
HQ: Florida, US
CEO: Scott Peterson (of Global Compute)

DHA provides data and real estate services in Latin America, trading and selling properties in the region. Backed by Global Compute & Southern Cross, DHA aims to develop and operate wholesale data centre campuses in key strategic markets. Founded in 2019, the brand’s slogan of “Your trusted data centre partner today in Colombia and in Latin America at large tomorrow” pinpoints its mission statement to be the premier Latin American provider of sustainable, scalable, wholesale mission-critical data centre facilities supporting the digital infrastructure needs of global hyperscale and major technology firms.

9. HostDime
HQ: Florida, US
Founder and CEO: Manny Vivar

HostDime’s LATAM arm has 11 data centres across eight countries, which the company says allows it to deliver the best geo redundancy. Its data mirroring services means its clients’ data is always available. HostDime’s Colombian data centre in Bogota, which went online last year, was the first in Latin America to achieve an EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certificate, an accolade awarded to buildings that demonstrate resource efficiency of at least 20% in energy, water and embodied energy in materials.

8. Elea Digital
HQ: Brazil
CEO: Alessandro Lombardi

With a specialism in colocation services, Elea’s edge data centre ecosystem of seven facilities is located in the main Brazilian metropolitan areas including Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, which it says generates better connectivity and lower latency for its customers. Since it was founded in 2018 Elea Digital and its experienced team has used its proven experience to deliver services to the likes of the telecommunications sector, delivering excellence in a responsible, conscious and sustainable way.

Elea Digital was established and designed so that a more sustainable future is built with every megabyte that is transmitted. It says proudly that its ecosystem of edge data centres boosts the daily lives of people and society by promoting technology and connectivity.
